FAQ
When does the season start and end?
For 2025, the season will start on March 30th and end on June 15th.
When are games?
Classic games are played on Sundays. No games will be played on Easter or Memorial Day Weekend.
When are practices?
During the season, practices will be held once or twice per week. Location and time will be determined by coach and field availability. Before the season starts we do our best to schedule indoor and turf fields so the teams have plenty of time to practice, work together and prepare before the first game. These times and locations will be announced as soon as they are available.
What is the difference between Classic, Select and Supplemental?
Classic refers to the travel league that all MYL towns and teams participate in with games on Sundays. The Classic program invites balanced teams from all levels to play competitive local games.
Select is an additional program for older teams of advanced athletes. It is a highly competitive and simultaneous spring experience. Each select team is scheduled 7 regular season games with standings and power rankings. A postseason in the form of a single-elimination tournament crowns 6 league champions: 7th/8th and 5th/6th levels for DI, DII, and DIII. All Select players must play for (and act as role models on) their Classic team in order to be eligible to participate in Select.
Supplemental is considered "Select Light" for the 3rd/4th grade level. Coaches work with local programs to develop a more competitive schedule in addition to the Classic team schedule.
Please note that the offering of Select and Supplemental varies each year based on interest and skill level.
What if my child has never played before?
We welcome all levels! Each team has multiple coaches and will be able to focus on basics and skills for new players to get them acclimated to the appropriate level of play. We offer additional clinics to work on specific skills as well as promote local towns, clubs and colleges who offer training and clinics.
Little Laxers!! New in 2025 we are partnering with local program Scoops to introduce the sport of lacrosse in a fun way to kids ages 3+. This is a 6 week program, held once a week on Sunday afternoons starting after April vacation.
What does my child need for equipment?
The game is played differently for boys and girls and therefore the equipment is also different. Here is an overview of required equipment for boys. Girls only need a stick, goggles and mouthguard. Click here for more details.
Who coaches the teams?
This is a volunteer run organization and the coaches are a combination of parents, local community members and varsity High School players. All adults will be CORI checked and are required to take a MYL coaching class. We welcome any volunteers, with or without lacrosse experience.
Why do we pay to participate in MYL?
MYL membership is required for all players in our league. (US Lacrosse membership is no longer required). There are many benefits to the MYL program, including insurance. Read more here.
