Boys Select Program

Wachusett Youth Lacrosse (WYL) as part of the MassBay Youth Lacrosse League (MBYLL) offers additional lacrosse competition for select players at the 5th/6th and 7th/8th levels.  This program is geared towards players with the skill, commitment and desire to play at a higher level.  It is in addition to the existing MBYLL program of balanced teams, no standings, Sunday games and weekly practices.  All players are expected to be full participants in the MBYLL program in order to also participate in the “select” program.

This program encourages competition but is played within the “spirit of the game” philosophy.  Scores and standings will be kept and playoffs will be held but sportsmanship, fair play and respect for all players, coaches & officials is the primary focus of the program.

Games will be played on either Friday or Saturday and there will be practices beyond the regular MBYLL practices so participation in this program would mean at least 2 more nights a week committed to the sport of lacrosse.

Boys Supplemental Program

A few local towns are trying to form a program for 3rd/4th graders that is similar to the MBYLL Select Program but on a smaller scale.  It will allow players with the skill, commitment and desire a chance to play at a higher level.  The intent is to focus on team concepts which are not as easily implemented in the Classic program.  Unlike the Select program it is unlikely that this program will result in at least 2 more nights of lacrosse per week.

More to come.  Details are still being ironed out.

Girls Select Prgoram

Wachusett Youth Lacrosse (WYL) as part of the MassBay Girls Lacrosse League (MBGLL) will offer additional lacrosse competition for select players at the U13 and/or U15 age levels as player interest dictates.  This program is geared towards players with the skill, commitment and desire to play at a higher level.  It is in addition to the existing MBGLL program of balanced teams, no scores and no standings with Sunday games and weekly practices.  All players are expected to be full participants in the MBGLL program in order to also participate in the “select” program.

Games will be played on Friday evenings and WYL prefers to play local opponents like Leominster, Grafton or Shrewsbury but additional travel within Metro-West may be necessary.  We will not field a team if the majority of opponents are more than on hour away.  There will be practices beyond the regular MBGLL practices so participation in this program would mean at least 2 more nights a week committed to the sport of lacrosse.
